Temps have been high until today. Had a thunderstorm in the morning, but they're climbing again already! The Wisteria is all chopped up now and the new growth has begun (give it 3 months & I'll be doing it all again!). We found a juvenile swallow (they nest in our barn) on the ground yesterday. We put him in the barn, but he succumbed to shock. He was probably doing practice flights and went into the wall. Very sad.

After spending three days pruning Wisteria (it was very overgrown) I thought I might get a chance to relax this week. No such luck! We had our winter supply of firewood delivered this morning, 4m cubed, which all has to be moved into the barn, so now I'm absolutely exhausted. It's still only half done! Looks like we'll  still be at it for a while.
Apart from that the day was good, we finally have got back to normal summer weather, the thermometer hit 44°C in our courtyard. Pretty standard fare for August.

Books to read list

Well, the BBC published this list a while ago, with a survey that found that most Britons had only read an average of 6 of the 100. I love reading when I have the time and have so managed 30 of the list. There are quite a few that I would like to read, but some of them do not appeal at all, so I don't think I'll ever do the whole 100!
